My name is Sharvin Haghighi Saed . I'm 32 years old and currently I live in Iran. I'm suffering from mild hearing loss in my both ears and the severity of disease is high in my left ear(I'm wearing hearing aid on my left ear). I'd like to consult you about this incurable disease and figure out whether there is any effective treatment for my chronic disease?
In the paragraphs below I'll provide you with detailed information about my previous medical record.

During childhood, I frequently caught cold which was mixed with severe sore throat and high fever and doctors were prescribing Antibiotic including high dosage of Penicillins and Jentamicin . I also would like to mention that at the age of 14 when I was at high school, my left ear were severely damaged by the loud sound produced by a close gun shot during a military training course and it took me about 5 days to hear natural sounds normally. At the age of 25, I was diagnosed as Nasal Septum Deviated which was developed on the left side of my nose. After that, whenever I caught cold or I exposed my forehead to the cold and windy weather, my sinus was severely infected. I was suffering from a dull headache, stuffed up feeling as well as post nasal drip as well as feeling itchy in my ears and doctors usually prescribed high dosage of penicillin such as CEFIXIME and CEFTRIAXONE which was directly injected in to vein. Fortunately, I met a Homeopath doctor at the age of 30 and he managed to cure and prevent severe sinus infection however, I'm suffering from some Nasal Septum Deviated's symptoms including stuffed up feeling, post nasal drip, runny nose as well as itchy ears. I also would like to mention that those symptoms get worst particularly when I expose my body to the cold weather during fall and winter seasons.
I can email you my AUDIOGRAM Test, if you need futher information regarding my chronic case.
I'd be grateful to you if you let me know that if there is any effective treatment available in traditional Chinese medication so that I'll be able to make a recovery from my hearing loss.
In advance, I appreciate your special consideration to my urgent situation.

Yours Sincerely
Sharvin Haghighi Saed

Hi Shevrin.

Since Your used Gentamycin a lot, the very suspicious thing is:

Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Look:

http://www.asha.org/public/hearing/disorders/types.htm
http://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/dd/ddhi.htm
http://rdoctor.com/symptoms_disease/content/view/249/29/
http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec19/ch218/ch218a.html

It could be a conductive hearing loss, which is more or less curable, depending on the cause.

But neural damage is usually uncurable. Except the
cochlear implant - type of device implantable basically into the ear or skull near brain , that converts sounds to electric waves and then transfer the waves dirctly to brain (instead of the nerves).

But that's complicated device and very expensive and the surgery is done not so often. That's a new technogloy.

I saw some devices from AUstralia, but I think they produce them in Asia too

If you have a conductive hearing loss (you shoudl really show your audiogram to the doctor who ordered it - I have just little familiarity with audiograms - I just know basic principles and saw several of them, but that's not that I read them routinely, though I have friedn's who do), then depnding on the situation you might need other types of treatment.

Some of the problems you describe might relate to the conductive hearing loss -like trauma, deviated septum (which may make worse some blockage of Eustachian tubes)

However, Actually, form you history the most suspicious is Gentamycin and sensory hearing loss, which might be also confirmed by the fact that you have hearing aid (it is usually used for incomplete sensory hearing loss, rather than for conductive).

And, though I respect Chineese medicine, I am not very femiliar with it - I read several manuals about Chineese medicine, but not that I used it ever very extensively. Just from time to time, but not for the treatmetn of patients - rather soem experimetns out of curiosity. So, I can not advice much on Chineese medicine.

Sincerely

Alex.

Anyway, otholaringologist should recomend you the best mode of action.

Etchy ears and running nose may be due to the climatic change in your region and it is better to consult homeopath as it will not have a side effect and also severe intake of pencillins etc may lead to adverse effect .so take the treatment as soon as possible.
